Pocahontas

Contrasting all those other movies that show special effects and high speed car races, Pocahontas is all about appreciating the natural world and trusting our inner most feelings.

Based on real historical events, Pocahontas depicts a slightly different version of John Smith's expedition to Virginia.

In 1607, a ship carrying British settlers sails for North America in search of gold. The handsome Captain John Smith leads the band of rag-tag English Sailors while Governor Ratcliffe lazily lounges around giving orders.

Meanwhile, in the Powhatan tribe, Pocahontas, the beautiful daughter of Chief Powhatan learns that she is to marry the tribes greatest warrier Kocoum. Pocahontas thinks Kocoum is too serious for her wild natrue and travels to an enchanted glade to ask for advice from the talking tree Grandmother Willow. Pocahontas has had a dream of a spinning arrow that is telling her that change is coming. Grandmother Willow tells Pocahontas to listen with her heart.

When the settlers arrive in Virginia the Powhatans cautiously observe them, hoping they mean no harm and will leave soon. But alas, one of the Powhatan warriors is spotted and a battle ensues. Chief Powhatan declares that the 'pale face' white men are dangerous and no one is to go near them.

While the two groups are busy shooting at each other, Pocahontas and John Smith meet and patiently learn about each other. When John explains that the settlers want to develop houses and teach 'savages' about civilization, Pocahontas sings "Colours of the Wind" to explain the value of the natural world as it is. While the Powhatans are simple, they have valuable wisdom that cannot be taugh by the settlers.

A few days later, John decides to revisit Pocahontas. Pocahontas and John sneak off to the enchanted glade where John meets Grandmother Willow. Governor Radcliffe is convinced the 'savages' are hiding his gold so John decides to ask Pocahontas. The Powhatan's extreme purity and appreciation for the land is evident when John tries to explain what he is talking about by saying it is yellow and very valuable and Pocahontas pulls out a cob of corn. John Smith learns that here is no gold.

On both sides, the settlers and the warriors have decided to fight. A neighbouring tribe has arrived to help the Powhatans destroy the white men and the settlers decide to ambush the Powhatans.

John Smith returns to the settlement and tries to explain that there is no gold but Ratcliffe believes this is a lie. Pocahontas and Smith meet and talk about trying to convince both sides that there is no gold and there is no danger. Unfortunately, events do not always work the way they should. Smith gets mistakenly arrested and sentenced to death. As full out war is nearly waged, and Smith is about to be ended, Pocahontas stops everyone else in their tracks and says, "Look where the path of hatred has brought us!".

While I probably will not go live out in the wild now, this really makes you think about the things wee deem as imortant. We need to see the world in all its beauty, for the highest trees and the greatest star constelations. We needs to see other people and things from different points of view, because what for some might be a dangerous bear, is really just a mama looking after her babies. We need to keep dreaming and aiming for those things our hearts desire, because the things we seek might be 'just around the riverbend'. Appreciate the things around you and keep dreaming.

Step 2, simply plug one end of the cable into the headphones port on iPod and the other end

Step 3 , set iPod on TV up. Don’t worry, it doesn't hack the iPod and everything goes safe.
From the main screen of your iPod, go to 'Video' -> 'Video Settings'. Scroll to TV Out and make it 'Ask' instead of 'Off'.
Then, 1) Scroll down to TV Signal and make sure its NTSC if you live in North America/Japan or PAL if you live anywhere else.

Hindus urge FCC intervention in "The Love Guru" movie

Hindu groups contacted Federal Communications Commission (FCC) today urging intervention in the matter of the upcoming Hollywood movie "The Love Guru" saying "it will hurt the religious sentiments of millions of Hindus worldwide".

Bhavna Shinde, representing Hindu Janjagruti Samiti and Sanatan Society for Scientific Spirituality, in a communiqué to FCC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kevin J. Martin and four other commissioners, said, "…If the trailer is an indicator of the content of the movie…then we feel that this movie is most likely to hurt the sentiments of seekers from various spiritual paths…it will hurt the religious sentiments of millions of Hindus worldwide, who hold the 'Guru-disciple' relationship as sacred…we are supporting Rajan Zed's protest against the denigration…Poking fun is one thing, but if it creates a sense of belittling other's faith, then it is wrong."

FCC is an independent United States government agency charged with regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. Since it does not cover movies as such, Shinde wrote in this communiqué, "…the movie will end up on TV and Cable at a later date, further penetrating the myths about the sacred concept of the Guru, and hurting religious and spiritual sentiments."

Meanwhile, furthering the drive pioneered by acclaimed Hindu and Indo-American leader Rajan Zed, various organizations and leaders have been coming out expressing concern about the possibility of this film hurting the sentiments of Hindus worldwide and urging filmmakers to be more responsible when handling faith related subjects. Zed has been saying that from the information available about the movie, it appears to be lampooning Hinduism and Hindus and using Hindu terms frivolously. Various Hindu, Catholic, Presbyterian, Jewish, Native American, Methodist, Buddhist, youth, film, spiritual/religious, music, yoga, civil rights, etc., leaders have already issued statements in support of this cause espoused by Rajan Zed.

On the other hand, Hindu groups have recently been approaching film distributors associations, exhibitors groups, regulatory bodies, government ministries, theater owners, etc., in various parts of the world urging them not to distribute/screen "The Love Guru" till Paramount Pictures, its presenter, makes necessary changes to it.

G. Kendrick Macdowell, Vice President of the National Association of Theatre Owners, largest exhibition trade organization in the world, replying to one such request wrote, "I am sympathetic to your concern as I have been to the ashrams in India and know a little bit about the guru-disciple relationship. I have not seen the trailer or the movie, but I can guess that it satirizes 'gurus on the make'. I doubt I would find it funny. Nevertheless, we are not in a position to take action you recommend …we are a trade association, and we cannot interfere with the decisions of our members regarding what movies or trailers to play…"

A prominent Jewish Rabbi, Elizabeth W. Beyer of Nevada, has called for boycott of "The Love Guru" because it "…lampoons Hinduism, mocks Ashram life and Hindu philosophy…" and asking "who laughs at religious practices".

Paramount Pictures, through its Senior Vice President National Publicity, Jessica Rovins, has earlier stated, "It is our full intention to screen the film for Rajan Zed and other Hindu leaders in the U.S. once we have a finished print."

It may be recalled here that advance screenings of Mel Gibson's 2004 movie "The Passion of the Christ" were held for clergy and others.

"The Love Guru"; a comedy starring Mike Myers (of Austin Powers fame, who is also the co-writer and co-producer), Jessica Alba, Justin Timberlake, Ben Kingsley; and directed by Marco Schnabel; is set to release on June 20 next. In it Myers, an American, raised in an ashram in India, moves back to US as Guru Pitka to seek fame and fortune in the world of self-help and spirituality.

Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion followers. Moksha (liberation) is the ultimate goal of Hinduism.

If you are a serious film buff and would like to start a film/DVD library, there is a simple way to accomplish that goal. If horror movies are your ?thing?, you?ll definitely want to include Saw II in your library.

If you are a horror buff, don?t wait to see the ever-so-scary Saw II. If you saw the first version, you have a general idea of what you are in for. The sequel, though, is even scarier and bloodier than the first. Bet you did not think that was possible.

Depending on the speed of your internet connection, you can download an entire 2-hour movie in mere minutes. Even if you have an older computer and slower connection, downloading is still quick and easier than running from store to store in hopes of finding what you are looking for.

Jigsaw, the diabolical maniac from the first movie, is back in Saw II. He?s meaner, crazier and more scheming than in the first film. A policeman, who is on the hunt for the killer, plays a major role in the plot. This time, a teenager is among Jigsaw?s captives and seems to have drawn even more ire from the criminal.

Just how can you bring the movie experience right into your own home? It is simple ? download Saw II, turn off the lights, sit back and enjoy! Sure, you could order a movie via cable pay-per-view or from a mail-order service. You could even visit the video store or the local Red Box ? if you have them.

Isn?t it a better idea to spend a few dollars (and it IS affordable) and download from a proven, reputable online site? These downloads are usually just as clear as the originals and you can keep them forever.

All you have to do is sign onto the internet, search movie download sites and your movie is available to watch when YOU want them. It is so simple to do; you will wonder how you ever got along before you learned how to download. Exercise caution when you choose a downloading site ? make sure it is a firm with a reputation for quality, affordability and good customer service.

Take the leap, find the movie downloading site that suits you and get busy. You can be sitting with popcorn in your lap tonight, after downloading Saw II and any other movies you want. Good Luck sleeping if you do download Saw II.
